New Life

This morning I was blessed to witness the birth of my friend Leslie's new baby girl. She had asked me to be present in the OR to take photos of her newborn. It was truly the most miraculous thing I have ever witnessed. Even though I have had two babies of my own (both c-sections) I didn't really get to experience it so fully because I was strapped down to the table behind the blue sheet and so nervous and full of emotions. I can't believe how tiny she is. It makes Carson (who is 7 months on Saturday) look huge.

Thanks Leslie and Kris for allowing to be a part of your special day.

Stats:
Born at 7:53 am
7 lbs 1 oz
19.5 inches long.

Great Words From A Great Man

I found this quote on Joanna Ellis' blog. I thought it was perfect for this week's activities...

The Real First Day

How cute is this kid? He's going to have all the little girls chasing him, lol.

At Challenger they have a "carline" where the parents line up in their cars and the teachers come out and get the kids and walk them inside. It was seriously strange to see my baby walk into school all by himself. He looked so grown up. I promised myself I wouldn't be sad but I still felt that little tug at my heart.

By the way, he LOVED it!!!

Crash Bang Boom

Today Carson started pulling himself up to a sitting position from his hands and knees, He's really proud of himself, but he keeps falling over on his noggin. He took a really big spill on the wooden floor. I'm sad we are at that head bumping phase. Wish us luck, I might have to get him a mini crash helmet.

First Day of Pre-K

"Mom, it's a great day for a school day".

That is how I was woken up today. Cute eh? We enrolled Cole in pre-k this year at Challenger School . He has been bugging me since April to start going and the long awaited day finally got here. Unfortunately the morning classes were full and so he is in afternoon, and let me just tell ya, this morning was soooo long. Every 5 minutes he kept asking me if it was school time. Finally around 11:00 (we don't go until 12:30) he tells me, "Mom, I think you are telling me a big lie". I said, "No Cole, I don't lie to you" and he says, "Uh-huh, you said I get to go to my new school today but I think you aren't telling the truth, I'm telling Daddy". The time to go finally arrived and he rushed to the car and climbed in on his own. Today was just a meet the teacher and a parent orientation day, actual classes begin on Wednesday. He loved his classroom and his favorite thing was the dress-ups (they had a police officer costume he told me about 20 times). I tried to take my camera in and he told me cameras weren't allowed in school and it had to wait in the car. He was seriously adamant about that so I got no pictures of his classroom but I'm sure I will get opportunities through out the upcoming year. All in all I think this is going to a really good thing for Cole.

Rainy Day Fun

Living in the desert we don't see a lot of rain and this summer has been no exception. Saturday afternoon we got a special treat, a giant thunderstorm. Of course Cole being the true little boy that he is had to get outside and start splashing around immediately. But not before getting his red rain boots, his fire hat and fireman rain coat on. He's so silly! Alan took Carson out in it and he was none too impressed, lol.

Cole said to me "Mom, Jesus makes the rain, right?" I said yes and he thought for a minute and then said, "I think he dragged a big hose thru' the clouds and is spraying us". What a nut!

This is the face of pure JOY!

The fireman gear

This face cracks me up, it is so Billy Idol, lol.

Little Picasso

I'm not sure where the idea came from, but recently Cole had been talking a lot about painting like a "real artist". So last weekend Alan took Cole to Michael's to pick out some paints and canvas, they even found really cool painter palettes to make it more authentic. They spent all of Saturday morning outside painting, (It was really cute). Carson enjoyed watching from his little saucer seat and I snuck out and went to spin class. When I got home they were still painting away. Cole's masterpiece now proudly hangs in the hallway we walk thru' on the way out to the garage to get in the car.

Cutest Brothers

Aren't they cute? I think so, but I'm the overly biased Mommy.

Almost...

Look who's almost crawling...

Once these little guys get mobile, life gets a little crazier. Yikes, I'm so not ready for this. He is growing up way too fast. SLOW DOWN PLEASE!

Tag I'm It

So, this is my first time being blog tagged (thanks Leslie) and I have put off answering the questions because they would require me to think hard and I prefer to hardly think.

1) What is the best thing you cooked last week?
Well cooking is something I don't do too often these days. I'm sure I made a mean PB&J a couple of times during the week. I did bake brownies with Cole last Tuesday so I guess that would count eh? They were yummy, Cole didn't like them too much and Alan is dieting so I ate my fill and thru' the rest away since I have zero will power lately.

2)If money, time and babysitting were no object where would you go and with who?
I'd really like a getaway with my cute hubby. It seems like life is so hectic all the time I hardly get any time to just visit with him without a kid needing immediate attention or the phone ringing etc. I guess I'd choose somewhere warm and beachy. We've never been to Hawaii so I guess I will pick there (I know it's so cliche).

3)When was the last time you cried?
Wednesday night. I had a total Mommy meltdown. 'Nuff said.

4)What is the most played song on your ipod right now?
Hmmm, maybe 4 in the Morning by Gwen Stefani. My workout playlists are what I listen to the most, they have everything from Start Me Up by the Rolling Stones to Hit Me Baby One More Time by Britney (I'm a trainwreck) Spears. Also liking the Hairspray sountrack.

5)Is there something on T.V. this week that you are more excited about than the So You Think You Can Dance Finale?
Not a huge fan of So You Think You Can Dance or reality TV for that matter. Alan and I are hooked on a new show called Burn Notice on the USA network so I guess I'll say a new episode of that. Oh and High School Musical 2, duh!

Am I supposed to tag someone now? Is that how this game works? Cammie if you are up to answering these questions than I guess, "Tag you're it", Lol! Have fun...

My New Love

Where have these been all of my life?
WOW! After Cole has been quoting The Space Bag commercial at me for months I decided I should try them out. Carson's room was in desperate need of some organization. He is now in 6-9 month clothes and his drawers were overflowing with 0-3 and 3-6 month things. So I went to Wal-mart this morning and picked up a few of these nifty things. I am seriously amazed at how well these bags work. Vacuuming out the air from them and watching them shrivel up is probably the most fun you can have with your clothes on, lol. OK, seriously, I have NO life. Anyways, Carson's drawers and closet are now perfection and his clothes are airtight, water-proofed and will keep the bugs out.

Now I want to space bag everything in my house.

DISCLAIMER: That photo is from the website, I do NOT own those ugly, disco-looking sweaters. If I did I would be burning them & not wasting precious time space bagging them, lol.

Girl's Night Out

Tuesday night a bunch of girl's from the ward went out to eat at BJ's. It's so much fun when we can all get together and have a little time without our kids and hubbies and just eat yummy food and talk about girly things (although we mostly talk about our kids and hubbies, lol).

Thanks Leslie, I yanked this pic from your blog. It turned out cute. :)

It's Not Easy Being a Pirate

Exhitbit A: An enormous rope burn under the chin.

How does one go about getting such a huge rope burn you might ask? Well, I'll tell ya. You have your older cousin rig some jumpropes to the four poster bed (which makes a great pirate ship) at your Grandma's house and then you swing from the rope. Sounds like a great idea until you hook your chin on the rope and slide down creating lots of friction as you go. Another side effect of this plan was the breaking of one poster from the bed. I guess they weren't designed to support the weight of a scurvy, swinging pirate. Luckily for my pocketbook Grandpa was able to fix the ship, I mean the bed.

I didn't get a picture of the bed, that would've been Exhibit B.

Some Much Needed R&R

Last night Alan and I went on a much needed and long overdue get away to the Redrock Resort and Spa while the kids had a sleepover at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

For Mother's Day my boys got me a spa gift certificate and I was finally able to cash it in. I had an 80 minute Swedish massage and 50 minute soothing facial, it was pure heavenly bliss and I didn't want it to end. We ate dinner in the buffet and had a total pig out fest, it was so fun to eat in peace and quiet with no one spilling a drink, crying or asking to go potty. Afterwards we saw The Bourne Ultimatum and I was so deliriously tired by the time the movie started at 9:45 that is was a literal struggle to hold my eyes open, but I did it, lol. I guess I'm just getting old. It was a good movie but I'll still take Hairspray.

The little boys had fun staying over at my parent's house and slept pretty good too. Cole's fever did spike to about 104 degrees while we were gone but he was in very capable hands.

All in all it was a great little mini get away. I just wish it could have lasted longer...
Thanks Alan and Thanks Mom and Dad!!!

Juicy Bouncy Boys

Oh me oh my, this week has been rough. Both boys have been and still are sick. Cole has a "juicy" cough (by juicy he means croupy) and Carson has a stuffy, runny nose that is putting alot of pressure on his ears. Poor little bubbas.

But despite feeling icky, they are still as busy as ever, nothing slows these little guys down. Carson has really been enjoying bouncing in his Johnny Jump Up swing. He really gets those chubby little legs moving, lol. It truly is the cutest thing.

Today's Forecast: Eclipse

So the long awaited third installment of the "Twilight" series came out today. Without further ado, may I present Eclipse:

Of course the story of me picking up my copy at the bookstore is a whole 'nother tale. Before we even got out of the car I told Cole we were going to run in and run out really fast. No asking to buy things, no fits. Yeah right. You guessed it. He took off like a flash for the kids section of the store and proceeds to fall in love with something that he just can't live without. I grab my copy of Eclipse, pay super quick and try to rationally and calmly talk him out of buying whatever it was he wanted (BTW, I hate that bookstores now carry toys, bad idea). I'm trying to get out of the store without causing too much of a scene but Cole was pulling on the back of my shirt having a total epic tantrum while everyone stares on. He's really really strong and it almost pulled me over since I was off balance to begin with carrying Carson in his carseat. We finally make it to the car, get ourselves calmed down and drive across the street to McDonald's drive thru' because Mom definitely deserves an extra large diet coke for 69 cents.

Let The Show Begin

Friday night we went bowling at the Suncoast for Brett & Alex's birthday. As we were pulling out of the driveway to head over Cole says to me, "Mommy, I've got some new bowling moves". He was really excited to get there and try out his moves. As we were walking into the hotel he looks up at me and says, "Let the show begin". Where does he come up with this stuff? It's so dang cute and it is so hard not to laugh when he is saying these things and he's being totally serious.

We had alot of fun, our family took up five lanes and I'd say we were well behaved and not rowdy at all but that would be a lie. Some of us, who will remain nameless nearly got escorted from the premises for breaking the rules. You know who you are. And I still keep laughing over Dad and Dave just bowling and bowling frame after frame after frame... It was a frenzy, lol. My game was not so hot. I guess all that Wii bowling I've been doing just didn't pay off for me Friday night.

Happy Birthday

We just wanted to wish a very Happy Birthday to two of our cute nephews.
Brett (Aug 6) is turning the big 1-0 and Alex (Aug 4) is the big 1-2!
These boys love all things football especially the Green Bay Packers.

Hyper Hypo

If you need a good laugh today then watch this.
I dedicate this to my Hyper Hypo friend Cammie, lol.
Classic SNL, enjoy...

A Recent Project

When it comes to crafts I have ADD. I always seem to have several projects that are halfway done. So I have to admit that I am proud of myself for actually completeing something recently. I crocheted this handbag in record time (for me) and I even lined it. I know, shocker eh? I'm working on another pattern right now and not getting anywhere fast. I fear it may join the collection of half done crafts.

6 Months

It was 6 months ago today that this cute little guy joined our family. He is such a happy baby with a great big grin that just makes you have to smile too. He is really starting to get mobile and scoot around, of course he goes backwards instead of forwards but that's ok with us. He loves to watch his big brother and cracks up at all of his antics. I'm sure when he is old enough to join in it is going to be total craziness. Anyways, I can't believe he has been with us for half of a year already, time has a way of just flying by, and yet it seems like he's been in our family forever.

The day he was born 02-01-07
