Romance at Ross

Yesterday my girlfriend and I went to Ross Dress For Less to look for cheap prom dresses for the Breaking Dawn release party (but that's a whole 'nother post).
Cole found a fedora hat, put it on his head and yelled out "Yee-haw"! Lindsey turns to Cole and tells him that that hat is not a cowboy hat but a dancing hat (think Fred Astaire) and so the two of them begin to waltz around the accessory department. It was hysterical, they did twirls and dips and all sorts of fancy moves. Unfortunately I put my camera away too soon and missed their grand finale; a full on the lips kiss. Leslie and I were laughing so hard we were crying! Silly kids!

Aren't they fancy, just look at that dip...

Waltzing around the store as Janers looks on...

This photo cracks me up. Cole looks a little worried as Lindsey looks on with those vixen eyes.

But It's a Dry Heat

Look closely and you can see what my car's temperature read out is after sitting in the parking lot for an hour. Sickening! Is anyone else ready for cooler fall temps?

Choo-Choooo!

Saturday I hosted my sister's baby shower at our home and Alan's assignment was to take the boys out and keep them entertained. First he took the boys to lunch at Panda Express which is hands down Cole's most favorite place to eat. Then they headed over to Toys R Us and that is where Daddy earned himself the honor of being "The Best Daddy in the Whole Wide World" as Cole told me later that day. The boys got a new Geo Trax set to add to the overwhelming collection we already possess. This set is Grand Central Station and part of the new line-up. To go along with the train theme Cole got a new dress up ensemble. It's been nice to see him running around the house in something other than pirate gear the last few days. Carson is also big into the train action, he loves to watch the engines go 'round and 'round the tracks and he says "Choo-choooo" as they pass by him.

My cute little engineer...
Demonstrating the train whistle (it sounds fairly realistic)...
Grand Central Station...
ALL ABOARD!
*Thanks Alan for being "The Best Daddy" and for helping out during the shower!

Would These Make it More Fun?

I'm up to my eyeballs in dirty (and clean) laundry (I despise folding it and putting it away), toys are everywhere and the downstairs floor really could stand a good mopping. Do you think if I were wearing these fabulous rubber gloves complete with bling that these mundane household chores might be a little more fun, glamorous even?
Yeah, I didn't think so either.

The Next American Idol

Carson loves to sing. He sings all day long. He even sings "Zippadee-Doo-Da" on key. We've been trying to get it on video but he just won't perform on command, but trust me, it's the cutest thing ever. The other day he got a hold of the mic from our Rock Band game and stood around singing for probably 45 minutes to an hour without taking a break. I'm thinking he just might be the next American Idol.

Life's A Beach

Cole and I spent Saturday afternoon relaxing at the beach, well it was actually the lagoon at Desert Shores but it was definitely the next best thing. We were there celebrating the birthday of his buddy Aaron. The boys had so much fun swimming and building sand castles. On the drive home Cole kept telling me how amazing it was that there was a real live beach in Las Vegas, NV. It was cracking me up. Since the beach is open to residents of Desert Shores and their guest we are hoping for and invitation to play again soon!

Meet Leo The Lion

Last Thursday I went to pick up Cole from Kinder Prep but instead of a little boy climbing in my car, a lion got in.

Luckily for us, it was just a mask and Cole was hiding underneath. Phew!

The Right Way vs. The Carson Way

On one of our visits to the Springs Preserve, Cole demonstrates the correct way to play with the sand and water table:

While Carson demonstrates the silly "Carson" way to play with the sand and water table.

A Public Service Announcement

Don't forget to stop by your local 7 Eleven today and pick up a FREE slurpee in honor of it being July 11 or 7-11. I recommend the cherry limeade, it was delish!

Our Fourth of July in Photos

This year we celebrated the 4th with all of the traditional hoopla. My parents and sister live in the same cul de sac so we designated their homes as party central. We barbecued and stuffed ourselves sick at my folks' house and then headed down the street for swimming at Michelle and Dave's. Of course we topped off the night with safe and sane fireworks in the street. The boys were wiped out by the time we loaded them in the car to head home, I think they were asleep before we pulled out of the subdivision. Everyone had a great time. It was fun to spend time together as a family and enjoy good food, laughter and celebrate Independence Day.

Like Mother Like Son Part 2

Yes, it's true. I have a peanut butter addiction and my favorite way to eat it is straight out of the jar with a spoon. I'm sure in his 5 years of life Cole has seen me do this on several occasions so it comes as no surprise that I caught him red handed with a spoon in the PB jar. He said he was just having a little afternoon snack, so I got out a spoon and joined him.

Busted!
Caught Red-handed!

Should I Be Worried...

...that Cole can get Carson out of his crib? That's almost as bad as Carson getting himself out of his crib. Apparently Cole now dictates when Carson's naptime is over.
